Greece World Cup Squad

The Greece manager, Fernando Santos, announced his final 23-man squad on 19 May. The Greece striker Kostas Mitroglou who had transferred to start his Fulham career is in the list. Despite he made only one start for London club since January.

Fernando has faith in the 23-man squad and believes in Mitroglou, “ I was not 100% about some of the call-ups until a few weeks ago. Mitroglou was one of those cases. We watched the last 30 minutes of his Fifa 15 Coins For Sale game, and we paid a lot of attention. And we judged him to be ready…we are looking at playing ability and physical condition people who are safe choice.”

The coach opted for more experienced players like the 2004 European Championship winners Kostas Katsouranis and the captain Giorgos Karagounis. While three strikers Dimitris Papadopoulos of Atromitos, Stefanos Athanasiadis of PAOK and Nikolaos Karelis of Panathinaikos and the defenders Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Dimitris Siovas failed to make the squad. “ I was sorry not to include players that helps us in qualification. But the national team is above Fifa 15 Coins players and above the coach. We must use the safest choices.” said Santos.
